Those sparkling eyes are really mesmerizing. Excellent work
What do you use for blending to achieved the softness in your works?

This drawing has a basic sketch done with watercolors, then it was made entirely with colored pencils. The effect is so "soft" maybe because I never use a single color in "full shade", but overlay thin layers of different colors...

For my drawings I try to use many colors and weave them into thin layers until I get the right shade.

Just such a beautifulsoft piece of art, gorgeous colours and shading. What pencils do you use?

This is one of the last drawings I did with my old pencils, a set of economic Italian pencils: the "Giotto" colors. Now I use the Caran d'Ache.
Soon I'll post the new drawings! ;)

Paint? What sort of paint? It has such a soft feel to it. Very beautifully done. Gorgeous details in the eyes!

Actually it's not a painting but a drawing. :)
It is made with colored pencils, overlapping shades of color on color.

Colored pencils? Seriously? I use pencils all the time and ... wow. You blended everything so smoothly I couldn't even tell! Beautifully done. I'm wondering if the paper you used helped to get such a nice finish - no paper texture coming through at all.

Maybe it can help you... for my drawings I use "FABRIANO ARTISTICO" paper. (and when I have enough money I use "CANSON Arches" paper :D)

I've heard very good thing about Arches papers. That's just one thing I never learned enough about in school. I usually use sketch paper or even cardstock, whatever is on hand. I think it's about time I upgraded to something nicer!

This is an incredible painting. The eyes are rather disturbing - they look right into me in a disconcerting way. I'm not sure that I could live with those eyes on a daily basis. Great work.

No, it's not oil. :)
This one (like many other drawings) is made with colored pencils.

Oh wow excellent. Do you use mineral spirit or turpentine to blend them? Or do you just layer on layer after layer of coloring?
Reply
:iconpioart:
PIOart Featured By Owner May 18, 2011   Traditional Artist
This drawing is made with layers upon layers of color. Now I'm trying to use turpentine to speed up the work and to search for new effects.
